Tuesday Tidbits
Yes, sir:
The latest verbal for the SDSU football team, Freeman Simmons is a 5-9, 175-pound CB from Rock Bridge High in Columbia, Mo., the same school that produced current SDSU safety Mark Pickerel. Simmons led the team in rushing as a senior with 722 yards despite missing some time due to injury, and was recruited on both sides of the ball by some schools.
He considers himself both fast and physical, and claims that his arms are relatively long for his frame. He’s also got some experience in the return game, too.
Former SDSU assistant Josh Conklin has been named defensive coordinator at Florida International after one season as safeties coach at the University of Tennessee. Conklin has also held jobs at Wofford and The Citadel since leaving Brookings. FIU is coached by Ron Turner, maybe best known for his time leading Illinois.
